Blackboard
Blackboard is the course-management system that Triton College uses for online, hybrid, and enhanced teaching and learning. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students access to course materials, communication tools, online assessments, and grades, as well as the ability to submit assignments electronically. Blackboard can be accessed anywhere, anytime you have an Internet connection.

User Login and Support
To utilize the e-learning platform Blackboard Learn, you will use a unique username & password. This account is not the same as your portal/email account.
Your Blackboard username is the last 8 digits of your Photo ID number. While this number can be referenced on the physical Photo ID card, you can also look up the Photo ID number by using the Photo ID Lookup tool.
Where can I find my Photo ID Number?
To lookup your Photo ID Number, you will need to know your Social Security Number (if on file) or Colleague ID. If you would prefer to use your Colleague ID to look up your Photo ID barcode number, but are unsure what that number is, you can see it in the Portal under the Student Self-Service card > User Profile. On the User Profile page, your Colleague ID is listed below your name in the About You section.
View Your Profile in the Portal
The Photo ID lookup tool will return your Photo ID Number. The last 8 digits will act as your Blackboard username.

What is my password?
You will also need a password for accessing Blackboard. For most students, the password is the last four digits of their Social Security Number (SSN). If the SSN is not on file (or doesn’t work), the password is the last 4 digits of the student’s Colleague ID.
If you experience any difficulties accessing Blackboard, or your account information is not working as expected, please contact Library Services via email at libraryservices@triton.edu, through the Library Services Help form, or by phoning (708) 456-0300, ext. 3215.

Generally, most browsers and version updates will function correctly with Blackboard. This message is only to inform you that your browser version has not been fully tested by Blackboard. Flexible Learning Options
Credit courses offered with some on-campus and online components.
Hybrid courses offer the opportunity to learn with peers both in-person and online. In the hybrid modality, 50% to 74% of the coursework occurs online, asynchronously through Blackboard, Triton’s Learning Management System. The other 26% to 50% is spent on campus. Often, the on-campus portions include lab work, group meetings, and lectures.
While the online components of a hybrid course are asynchronous, there are deadlines for course assignments that must be met. The in-person, on-campus meetings follow a fixed schedule which is outlined in the course syllabus.
Credit and noncredit classes on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
If you're employed or busy during week days, Triton Weekend classes provide an excellent way to get an education without disrupting your busy schedule.
Weekend classes are offered on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. These courses may be Fast Track or full-semester length classes and can be either on or off campus. Weekend classes are ideal for mature students who work during the week or have family obligations which make week day classes difficult.
Credit and noncredit online classes offered online, in an asynchronous format.
If getting to an on- or off-campus location is difficult for you, online, asynchronous courses may offer the perfect alternative. If you have a computer at home and access to the Internet, you can learn online in the comfort of your own home.
Students participate in online courses by logging on to the course via Blackboard, Triton’s Learning Management System. There, they interact with their instructor, classmates, and course content through email, discussion groups, projects, and more. Asynchronous online courses provide the same course content as the equivalent classroom courses and require you to be more self-disciplined. They offer more flexibility in choosing when and where course work is completed.

Many of today's hottest careers are focused on industry certifications rather than traditional college degrees. Accelerated Workforce Development Programs get you up to speed "as soon as possible" in some of today's fastest growing professions. Courses focus on industry certification for Home Inspection, Computer Repair, Real Estate Licensing and other job-specific specializations. Credit classes that meet for seven weeks or less but earn the same credit as a full semester class.
If you're looking to accelerate time spent working towards a degree, Fast Track courses enable you to gain course credit in a shorter space of time. Fast Track courses run for seven weeks or less but earn the same credits as their full-semester counterparts. Fast Track classes are offered at the beginning of the semester, with another series of classes beginning at midterm. This enables a student to take two courses within the same time frame as one semester-length course. Traditional degree programs at Triton can take two or more years. If that sounds like a long time to you, Fast Track might be just the thing.
For more information, contact the Call Center at (708) 456-0300, Ext. 3130.
Credit classes offered in two or three weeks usually during semester breaks and for the same credit as full semester classes.
If you're looking to accelerate time spent working towards a degree, Mini Courses
enable you to gain course credit in a shorter space of time. Mini Courses usually
meet for up to five days a week for two to three weeks, but have the same course content,
and receive the same credit, as their semester-length counterparts. They are usually
offered at semester break times, such as during winter holiday break, enabling students
to continue their studies throughout the year. Traditional degree programs at Triton
can take two or more years. If that sounds like a long time to you, Mini Courses might
be just the thing.
